The ERP Fellowship Programme funds 10–20 exceptional graduates per year for Master's or PhD studies at top US universities (excluding HKS), with generous stipend and tuition support. Funded by Germany's post-Marshall Plan ERP assets and designed to strengthen transatlantic ties. International (non-German) applicants may be eligible.

Detailed requirements

  • - Hold at least a Bachelor's degree by the application deadline
  • - Last university degree (including doctorate) no more than 5 years old
  • - Excellent academic grades
  • - Interest in public service orientation (NGO, international organizations, ministries, think tanks)
  • - NOT studying at Harvard Kennedy School (use McCloy instead)
  • - Admission to a US university not required at time of application
  • - Prior Studienstiftung membership not required
  • - International applicants (non-German): check eligibility at studienstiftung.de/infos-fuer-studierende/voraussetzungen/

Who can apply

Outstanding graduates from all disciplines (non-arts) seeking a 1–2 year Master's or PhD study/research stay at leading US universities, with an interest in public service, policy, or transatlantic engagement.

Fields of study

All disciplines except pure artistic studies (music, art, drama, film)
