Detailed requirements

  • - Must be enrolled at a higher education institution with a student exchange agreement with a Japanese university
  • - Participating in an inbound short-term exchange program (8 days to 1 year)
  • - Cannot participate solely for language courses — must be a degree program exchange
  • - Good academic performance and character at home institution
  • - Unable to finance the exchange solely at own expense (financial need)
  • - Will return to home institution to continue studies and obtain degree after exchange
  • - Total monthly allowance from all scholarships must not exceed ¥80,000
  • - Must be able to obtain a Student status of residence (or any status for exchanges ≤90 days)
