JASSO Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students
The JASSO Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship provides a monthly stipend to privately-financed international students already studying in Japan who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need. Unlike MEXT, this is applied for after arriving in Japan through the student's school.

- - Must be enrolled as a regular student at a Japanese university, graduate school, junior college, college of technology, specialized training college, or Japanese language institution
- - Must be a privately-financed international student (not receiving Japanese government / MEXT scholarship)
- - Resident status must be "Student"
- - Minimum GPA of 2.30 (on JASSO scale) from previous academic year
- - Japanese language proficiency: JLPT N2 or above, OR EJU Japanese 200+ pts, OR JASSO-recognized equivalent
- - OR English proficiency: CEFR B2 or above
- - Average monthly remittances below ¥90,000 (excluding tuition/entrance fees)
- - Not receiving another JASSO scholarship concurrently
- - Willing to cooperate with ETIC career survey after scholarship
